Growing up in a musically inclined family, has been the musical core for Kelli’s life. As a youth she participated on scholarship at the Greensboro Music Academy in Greensboro, North Carolina while receiving formal classical vocal training. Choirs have been an integral part of her life as she participated in All-County, All-State and many honorable choir junctions since her Junior and High School years.
For nearly 7 years, Kelli McElvany has been sharing her love of teaching music to young children as she is the co-director for the Clark County Children’s Choir of Las Vegas, Nevada. With a specialty certification in Kodaly Music Education from Brigham Young University, she continues her passion of teaching young children’s choirs by conducting the 4 young childrens’ ensembles for the CCCC.
Over the years, Kelli furthered her love of teaching music to young children by becoming a Kindermusik Educator in the Las Vegas Community for 4 years prior to becoming co-conductor for the CCCC. Her current community adventures include serving as choral director for her church. She continues to expand children’s musical horizons by specializing in teaching beginner piano in her community. Currently, Kelli’s education and experiences have helped her to incorporate her specialized knowledge of teaching the foundations of music education into choral, vocal, and piano studies. Her drive comes from the fact that she loves young children as much as she loves music!
